First cohort includes programs in the United States, Europe and India, beginning with MassChallenge Boston to help Israeli biotech and MedTech startups validate technologies, establish strategic partnerships and accelerate global market entry
The Israel Innovation Authority today launched a new series of International Technology Pilot Accelerator Programs designed to help Israeli technology companies expand into global markets through direct integration with leading innovation ecosystems worldwide. The first cohort will include programs in the United States, Europe and India, with participating companies receiving support valued at approximately NIS 300,000 per company.
Dror Bin, CEO of the Israel Innovation Authority: “One of the greatest challenges facing Israeli startups is the transition from developing technology in Israel to conducting a first technological pilot with a leading global customer. This new program gives companies access to valuable resources, including industry connections, expertise, strategic partners and infrastructure within the world’s leading innovation hubs. By matching each company with the ecosystem best suited to its technology and business needs, we will help shorten development cycles, validate technologies under real market conditions and improve their chances of success. Our goal is to help more Israeli companies overcome the technological challenges involved in entering global markets while further strengthening Israel’s position as a global innovation leader.”
The program reflects the recognition that while Israel is one of the world’s leading innovation ecosystems, many companies face significant challenges in transitioning from successful technology development in Israel to commercial deployment in international markets. Entering global markets – a critical milestone in a company’s growth – requires adapting products to market needs, navigating regulatory and compliance requirements, establishing partnerships with leading companies, conducting pilots in real-world environments, connecting with international investors, gaining access to advanced R&D infrastructure, integrating into complex systems, and building local business networks during the R&D stage.
The Israel Innovation Authority identifies the transition from technology development to market adoption as one of the most challenging stages for technology companies. The new program will enable participating companies to engage with target markets during the development phase, receive feedback from prospective customers and partners, validate their technologies, refine their products to better meet market needs, and accelerate commercialization. In addition, participants will gain access to innovation centers, research infrastructure, international experts and regulatory knowledge while building relationships with investors and strategic partners, with the goal of accelerating growth and successful expansion into international markets.
As part of the initiative, dedicated technology pilot accelerators will operate in selected target countries through experienced local organizations with proven expertise in supporting technology companies. Selected startups will participate in intensive programs connecting them with R&D partners, multinational corporations, pilot sites, industry experts, investors and regulatory authorities. The objective is to accelerate product development, reduce the technological risks associated with entering foreign markets, shorten time-to-market, and strengthen the position of Israeli companies in international markets.
In its initial phase, the Israel Innovation Authority will launch three pilot accelerator programs: one in the United States focused on healthcare, one in Europe focused on climate technologies, and one in India. Approximately ten Israeli companies will participate in each program, with a total of around 30 companies expected in the first cohort. The U.S. healthcare program, BreakthroughBio, will initially focus on the biotechnology (Biotech) and medical technology (MedTech) sectors and will be operated by MassChallenge Boston, one of the world’s largest and leading accelerators in healthcare, life sciences and technological innovation. Additional pilot accelerator programs in Europe and India are expected to launch in subsequent phases
