Horowitz to lead the Authority’s AI activities and advance Israel’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy to support in strengthening the country’s global leadership in AI
Dr. Assaf Horowitz has been appointed Vice President of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the Israel Innovation Authority. In this role, he will lead the Authority’s activities in the field of AI, advance the implementation of the National Artificial Intelligence strategy as part of the Authority’s work with the high-tech sector, and promote research and innovation while strengthening collaboration between the government, academia, and industry, with the goal of reinforcing the global leadership of Israeli high-tech in the development and acceleration of artificial intelligence technologies.

Dr. Horowitz has more than two decades of experience spanning scientific research, technology entrepreneurship, establishment of deep-tech companies, development of artificial intelligence-based products, as well as experience in leading international business activities. Throughout his career, he has operated at the intersection of artificial intelligence, innovation, and technology commercialization, leading initiatives that connect researchers, industry, investors, and government entities in Israel and around the world.
For the past eight years, Dr. Horowitz has served as Founder and CEO of Brainvivo, a deep-tech company developing artificial intelligence technologies based on models of human brain activity. In this role, he established and led a multidisciplinary team of brain researchers, machine learning engineers, and product developers, raised funding from international venture capital funds, and led collaborations with customers and research partners in the United States, Europe, and Israel. Prior to that, he was a co-founder and the founding director of the Strauss Center for Computational Neuroimaging, the first and most advanced center of its kind in Israel.
Dr. Horowitz holds a Ph.D. in Computational Neuroscience, a Master’s degree in Neuroscience, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from Tel Aviv University. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School Executive Education Program.
