Synchrony is a commercial stage med-tech company developing LibAirty, a next generation, home-use, airway clearance system designed to help patients living with chronic lung disease maintain clear lungs with a short, daily, proficient treatment.

LibAirty is based on Autogenic Drainage (AD), an airway clearance technique that uses controlled breathing at different lung volumes, adjusting the depth and speed of respiration in a sequence of breaths so that expiratory airflow moves secretions from the smaller airways to the larger ones. AD normally requires significant patient training and respiratory therapist support. In LibAirty, the app guides the patient's breathing during each session, while the vest applies compressions to different areas of the chest in synchrony with the breathing cycle, directing airflow to clear hard-to-reach small airways. In a randomized crossover trial in 28 bronchiectasis patients at the Medical University of South Carolina (CHEST 2023), LibAirty cleared an average of 6.9 g of sputum versus 3.6 g with a standard high-frequency chest wall oscillation (HFCWO) vest, cleared more sputum even after 20 minutes, and scored higher on patient satisfaction (4.3 vs. 3.6 on a 1-5 scale). A study run with Sheba Medical Center was published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine (2025).
