Xfloat's core product is a horizontal single-axis tracking (HSAT) mechanism built around its proprietary Xfloat Controlled Buoyancy (XCB) system: a grid of interconnected, water-filled buoyancy tanks that pump water in and out to tilt each row of panels (reported at up to roughly ±60 degrees), replacing the motors, gears, and hydraulic actuators used in most solar trackers. A machine-learning-based control layer and cloud-connected SCADA/monitoring platform continuously adjust tank water levels using sun position, wind, and site-specific sensor data — described in company and press materials as a "knowledge-based machine learning process for predictive PV performance and O&M." Xfloat reports its tracking systems deliver roughly 18-28% higher energy yield than comparable non-tracking or motor-driven floating PV systems. Its floats and structural components are engineered for multi-decade durability in reservoirs and other water bodies, including a materials partnership with BASF on UV/weathering-resistant HDPE stabilizers and NSF-61 certification for use in drinking-water reservoirs.
