Description

Development and creation of thermal storage systems in ice

Technology

Nostromo Energy has developed the IceBrick®, an Ice-based Thermal Energy Storage system (Ice-TES) that enables storage (by freezing) and discharging (by thawing) of ice in a fast and energy-efficient manner, achieving optimal volumetric energy density, employing inexpensive components and enabling modular adjustment to the required installed capacity. The system charges energy overnight or from on-site solar systems during the day. This process allows the building to shifts its cooling demands thus reshape the building’s demand profile and significantly reduce the cost of electricity. . The IceBrick® uses an environmentally friendly, non-toxic, non-flammable, 100% recyclable medium. As 100% U.S. Made, it delivers superior supply chain stability, minimizes global logistics risks, and reduces lead times.

Targeted Customers

Nostromo specifically targets commercial buildings owners and industrial clients with high and continuous cooling demands. These high-value commercial and industrial (C&I) customers include essential services and infrastructure, such as data centers, hotels, hospitals, and major airports. Additionally, we serve the general commercial building sector, focusing on large facilities like shopping malls and office buildings, as well as factories whose chilled water systems consume a significant part of their electricity demand.
