Summary:

The Israel Innovation Authority and Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG), Singapore’s leading innovation promotion organization, invite Israeli companies to participate in the sixth round of the international innovation competition – “Sustainability Open Innovation Challenge.”

The competition aims to identify groundbreaking and innovative solutions to climate challenges raised by industry. As part of the competition, leading companies and organizations from Singapore and globally, publish various needs and challenges in the field of sustainability and invite technology companies worldwide to propose innovative solutions to help address global climate change challenges.

This year’s competition focuses on challenges in the following areas:

  • Green Buildings
  • Sustainable Agriculture
  • Sustainable Materials
  • Climate Change

Program Description

Winning companies will be awarded prizes totaling SGD 2.5 million.

In addition to the grants, winners will benefit from:

  • Access to Industry Experts: Working directly with global leaders like Safran, Seatrium and Toyota Tsusho.
  • Technical Partner Support & Guidance: access to AWS and Google Cloud companies, with expert guidance to refine and scale the AI solution.
  • Global Visibility: exposure on a global level, showcasing the technology to industry experts from around the world.

In addition to the specific challenges, companies can also participate in the “Open Category” (SOIC Open Category), which allows them to propose breakthrough technologies in two broad focus areas: Decarbonization and Cool Earth.

Winners in this category will compete for a prize of SGD 75,000 and gain automatic access to the Temasek Foundation’s Liveability Challenge (TLC) 2025, offering a grand prize of SGD 2 million. Proposals will be reviewed by participating companies and leading investors, such as Temasek Foundation, Temasek Trust, and Hexagon Group.


Successful collaborations between Singaporean and Israeli companies can be further leveraged through the Singapore-Israel Industrial R&D Foundation (SIIRD), which supports joint R&D and pilot projects. In December 2024, SIIRD launched a strategic climate-related call for proposals, offering funding of up to SGD 3 million for groundbreaking projects in the field of climate.

  • Target Audience – includes Israeli companies and startups developing solutions in the fields of sustainability and climate-tech.
  • This publication does not constitute a commitment to approve any application.

Application Process

  • Applications must be submitted via the competition website.
  • Solutions to the proposed challenges can be submitted until January 27, 2025, at 23:59 Singapore Time.
  • An early submission option is available until January 6, 2025, at 23:59 Singapore Time, offering exposure to leading investors who will provide feedback to submitting companies.
