Summary:

The Korea-Israel Fund (KORIL RDF) invites Israeli companies together with Korean companies to apply for a grant for cooperation in R&D or Pilots projects- in all technological sectors (except the field of defense).

KORIL will support can get up to 3 million US $ (depending on the program) or up to 50% (whichever is lower)

What are we looking for?

Projects that will create a clear advantage and added value resulting from the technological cooperation between companies in Korea and Israel, i.e.: new technologies, standardization, prototyping, new or improving products, access to R&D infrastructure, etc.

You have a unique opportunity to take your ideas or products a step further, receive support and enjoy a fruitful and fascinating collaboration with companies from one of the most developed countries in the world!

Participation of Research institutes/universities is welcome according to the KORIL funding guidelines – as a subcontractor up to 20% of the total project budget.

Relevant Technologies

All technology Sectors (except defence) that have new technologies, standardisation, prototyping, new or improves products, access to R&D infrastructure, etc.

Audience:

  • Companies from Israel together with companies from South Korea.
  • Academia can join as a subcontractor only (up to 20% of the approved budget).

  • A jointly developed technology or product(s) that shows considerable innovation
  • The project should generate an obvious advantage and added value resulting from the technological

Program Description

Funding

KORIL R&D Program

  • Fund up to US$ 3,000,000 per project or 30% to 50% of the total qualified project cost, whichever is lower.

KORIL Pilot Program

  • Fund up to US$ 1,000,000 per project or 30% to 50% of the total qualified project cost, whichever is lower.
  • * Self-Funding Option – please see below.

Criteria

Evaluation Criteria for both programs:

  • Hight Level of Innovation/Novelty
  • Potential for Commercialization Success
  • Technical and Financial Capabilities
  • Commercialization/Marketing Capability
  • Complementarity to each country/Company
  • Synergy Between Companies, relevant background
  • Reliability of the work and budget plan

Precondition for both programs:

  • Israeli companies registered in Israel and Korean companies registered in Korea.
  • Either company must not have more than 20% shareholding in the partnering company (Unrelated companies).
  • Commercial product / technology.
  • Companies must be able to fund the supplementary part to their project budget after a grant.

Precondition for R&D program:

  • For projects that cost minimum $ 100,000.
  • Duration of the project up to 2 years (maximum).
  • At least 30% of the actual R&D work must be done in Korea and Israel.

Precondition for pilot program:

  • POC project or trial of near-market technologies (e.g. phases TRL 6-8) with a beta site.
  • Duration of the project up to one year (maximum).

Application Process

The deadline for submission is 14 April, 2024 at 14:00 (IST)

Proposals for KORIL R&D & Pilot Programs should be prepared and submitted jointly by both companies to KORIL-RDF offices, simultaneously via the specific platform for each partner:

  1. For the Israeli partner: the Israel Innovation Authority online system, not later than the final submission deadline as written above.
  2. For the Korean partner: the KORIL-RDF Korea office online system, not later than the final submission deadline as written above.
  3. All the needed documents can be downloaded from KORIL-RDF website
  • If a company wishes to conduct KORIL Programs without getting grant from KORIL, but its partner company will get the 50% of the grant, please contact KORIL Offices for further information.

 

Please note!

  1. The Israeli company needs to register to the Israel Innovation Authority’s system (companies that applied for the Israel Innovation Authority’s support before, using the same user) and upload the proposal.
  2. It is recommended to submit the proposal ASAP. Please do not wait for the last minute. KORIL-RDF will accept only proposals that were submitted on time. KORIL-RDF won’t be able to accept proposals submitted later than the deadline as above.
  3. Please make sure that both partners successfully submitted the proposal on both platforms! KORIL-RDF won’t be able to accept proposals that were submitted only on one platform.
  4. KORIL-RDF doesn’t have appealing process for rejected projects.
