Summary:

Inviting companies to apply for a grant for the establishment of an infrastructure, making HPC (High-Performance Computing) services accessible. The infrastructure will be used to promote diverse research and development processes that rely on supercomputing capabilities. The infrastructure will also provide a knowledge center and R&D support services for Israeli corporations and/or Israeli research institutions, in the research, development, planning, prototyping, validation, etc. stages.

Program Description

This call for proposals aims to establish an R&D services infrastructure that will make supercomputer resources available to the Israeli industry.

These resources include the computing power itself, tools, eessential solutions, and services for advanced academic and industrial research, especially in science, computational engineering, and data analysis in a variety of technologies and fields that will enable:

  • Support for multidisciplinary research characterized by a wide range of scientific disciplines while encouraging interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
  • Performing complex simulations and modeling that are impossible or impractical to perform on standard computers, including simulations of climate models, astrophysical phenomenas, materials research, flow simulation, and molecular dynamics.
  • Large-scale data analysis in scientific fields that require large amounts of data, such as genomic data, astronomical observations, and particle physics experiments.
  • Significantly accelerating R&D processes by shortening the time required to perform experiments and analyzing results.
  • Design optimization in engineering and in materials science

The infrastructure services will provide access to HPC as part of research and development processes and will also provide support services to its users, such as:

  • assistance in adapting the data and research code,
  • running, and analyzing results,
  • assistance in contacting suppliers, and more.

The services will be provided by employees of the infrastructure, who will have expertise in the field of scientific supercomputing to create a supportive work environment for companies and researchers alike.

The infrastructure to be established will constitute a leading knowledge center in the field in Israel.

Financial Support

The total grant for an approved application under this process will be up to NIS 6 million for the approved program period, with the grant rate being 55% or 66% of the approved budget, as detailed in the benefit program.

Criteria

  • Corporations Registered in Israel: Only entities registered in Israel are eligible to apply as primary applicants.
  • International Entities: Including corporations, research institutes, and other organizations, may participate as subcontractors to an Israeli lead applicant.
  • International Entities as Sole or Lead Applicants: International entities have the option to either register in Israel and apply independently or collaborate with both Israeli and international partners to apply as lead applicants.

Note: We strongly advise that international entities consult with a local tax specialist and other relevant advisors before registering an entity in Israel.

Application Process

  1. Applications can be submitted by March 6th, 2024, at 12:00 noon (IST). Applications submitted after this deadline will not be accepted.
  2. Queries may be e-mailed to yaelh@innovationisrael.org.il .
