Smadar Hirsh is a Senior Director at ISERD – the Israel Europe R&D Directorate. She is responsible for the national coordination of the European Research Council (ERC), the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), Horizon Europe’s Culture, Creative and Inclusive Society cluster, Widening Participation, and activities related to the European Research Area (ERA), Research Infrastructures (RI), and the Joint Research Centre (JRC).
With over two decades of experience at ISERD, Smadar has played a leading role in advancing Israel’s participation in EU Framework Programmes, from FP6 and FP7 through Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe. Her work includes programme guidance, National Contact Point activities, and close coordination with government ministries, research institutions, and European partners.
Smadar holds an MSc in Horticulture from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
