Program Description

GENERAL INFORMATION 
The NSW-Israel Science and Technology Research and Development Program provides funding support for market-oriented collaborative research and development (R&D) projects by NSW (Australia) and Israeli companies, consistent with the Cooperation Agreement in place between NSW and Israel since 2016.
The NSW-Israel Science & Technology Research & Development program is implemented by the State Government of NSW through the Department of industry, and in Israel is implemented by the Israel Innovation Authority. Successful Israeli applicants enter into a funding agreement with the Israel Innovation Authority.

FUNDING SUPPORT 
The NSW program supports collaborative R&D projects aimed at achieving commercialization of new or improved products, processes or services that can potentially contribute to the economic development of NSW and Israel. Support for partner-matching is also available.
NSW based partner applicants can apply for a one-off grant of up to $250,000AUD and are required to make a matching co-contribution towards. NSW entities must use at least 50% of the grant for R&D expenses. The remainder can be used for growth related expenses that support R&D, such as employee and skills development expenses .
The Israel Innovation Authority conditional grant provided to the Israel based company is repayable when a project results in sales of the technology. There is no cap on the total funding for this conditional grant provided but is up to 50% of the eligible and approved costs of the R&D, in accordance with Israel’s national laws and regulations.

NSW and Israeli companies that meet the program’s eligibility criteria are invited to apply for funding support for collaborative R&D projects.

INTERESTED APPLICANTS ARE REQUESTED TO:

  1. Read completely the NSW Program Guidelines
  2. Fill out the Phase I Application (Bilateral Application Form) together with your partner, and prepare a Letter of Intent (LOI) regarding the IP rights.
    Submit your joint Bilateral Application Form and LOI to the program managers in NSW and Israel –

    • Israeli applicants are required to fill out the bilateral form attached below (different than the Australian form) and to send directly to Ms. Racheli Ben-Onn at the Israel Innovation Authority – details below.
  3. Following the Phase I application submission, project applications will be reviewed and eligible applicants will be notified of Phase II procedures, which require both applicants to submit separate national applications for funding.

TIME FRAME – the call for proposal is now CLOSE for submissions. The timeframe will be published with the opening of the next CFP
